About Jose Gerard
Dr. Jose Gerard Belimac started his work on Sexually Transmitted Infections and HIV as a Medical Officer in San Lazaro Hospital in Manila, Philippines. In 2005, he was designated as the Program Manager of the Department of Health’s National HIV, AIDS and STI Prevention and Control Program. He underwent international trainings on the Public Health Management of HIV and AIDS and Communicable Disease Control in Japan. He finished his Masters Degree in Public Health and Doctor of Medicine in Philippines.
He is the current Program Manager of the National AIDS and STI Prevention and Control Program of the Disease Prevention and Control Bureau – Philippine Department of Health. He is instrumental in the issuance and execution of various DOH normative guidelines on STI prevention, treatment and care. He had also worked on increasing the government funding of the HIV, STI and Viral Hepatitis Programs.
