About Arshad

Dr Arshad Altaf is a physician and a public health specialist with 15 years of experience.  Since July 2015 he has been working as a Consultant for Infection Prevention and Control global Unit of WHO Headquarters as the technical person on injection safety.  When injection safety programme started at WHO Headquarters in early 2000s and the Safe Injection Global Network (SIGN) alliance was formed Dr Altaf was very much part of it.  He has provided support as an expert as well as an advocate.  He remains particularly concerned about the transmission of hepatitis C due to unsafe injections and points out that elimination of hepatitis without prevention will be a futile effort.  He has a number of scientific articles, editorials and commentaries on injection safety in peer reviewed journals.
